TEAM
Researcher, Visual Designer
SideView is a Firefox Test Pilot experiment that allows users to view two tabs side by side. As the project lead, I tried an innovative way to explore ideas and gathered resources to execute the design I developed.
RESEARCH
Explore Ideas from Fresh Minds
Test Pilot can never have too many good ideas! That was the original thought behind co-hosting a 12-week course with Tatung University (TTU)’s Department of Media Design in Taiwan. Through the simplified UX design process, I cultivated ideas by guiding students on research, workshop, design, and testing.

RESEARCH
Know Our Enemy, Know Ourselves
The first step to fine tune the design from students was to know our enemies. A comprehensive competitor analysis would be useful. After comparing the pros and cons of competitors, I consulted the engineer to understand our limitations and feasibility since it’s a browser extension.

TESTING
Research, Build and Answer
According to the research questions I drafted with the researcher, I facilitated InVision to create a high fidelity prototype for concept evaluation and usability testing. In the seven interviews on usertesting.com, we validated the high demand and discovered several design flaws.

CONCLUSION
Popular Experiment on Test Pilot
After iterating the design, we handed off the design to another team due to resource consideration. However, SideView was officially released on Test Pilot and enabled by people who have multi-tasking needs while browsing on the Internet.
